Support that meets you where you are

Where is Physics
getting difficult?

For Year 12 and Year 13 students who want to strengthen understanding, develop independence and make better use of their revision.

The step up to A-level

You followed the ideas at GCSE, but now the mathematics, pace or depth feels different. We identify the foundations that need attention and build from there.

Unfamiliar questions

You understand an explanation but struggle to begin a problem independently. We work on recognising the physics, choosing a model and planning your solution.

More precise answers

You want to improve calculations, written explanations or practical reasoning. We examine your working and practise communicating each step clearly.

Inside a Physics lesson

Learn to reason.
Then put it to work.

Explanations and exam preparation belong together. The aim is to help you understand why an approach works and recognise when to use it.

01

Make the physics visible

Use a diagram, a physical model or a carefully chosen example to understand the situation before reaching for an equation.

02

Connect it to the maths

Choose relevant relationships, state assumptions and work through calculations with attention to units, signs and physical meaning.

03

Explain and refine

Practise exam-style questions, review errors and improve the structure of your answers. Use that feedback to guide independent practice.

Subject coverage

A connected view
of your course.

We choose topics around your specification and recent work. These are areas we can focus on, rather than separate packages you need to select.

Mechanics & materials

Motion, forces, energy and momentum; interpreting physical situations and building clear mathematical models.

Electricity & circuits

Charge, current, potential difference and resistance; reasoning about circuit behaviour and relationships between quantities.

Waves & oscillations

Wave behaviour, superposition and oscillations; connecting diagrams, graphs and mathematical descriptions.

Fields & electromagnetism

Gravitational, electric and magnetic fields; identifying useful similarities and understanding the differences.

Thermal, particle & nuclear physics

Interpreting models at different scales and connecting underlying ideas to calculations and explanations.

Practical & data skills

Graphs, uncertainty, experimental design and evaluation; making justified conclusions from evidence.

Exact coverage and sequencing depend on your exam board, including any optional topics. We’ll confirm your specification and priorities before lessons begin.

Dhawal Joshi, Physics and Maths tutor

Your teacher

Physics with Joshi.

I’m Dhawal Joshi, a qualified teacher with over 20 years’ experience across sixth forms, colleges and private tuition.

I help students connect physical understanding with mathematical reasoning. In lessons, you have time to ask questions, explain your thinking and work towards solving problems independently.

Finding the right support

Which Physics courses and exam boards do you teach?

I offer A-level Physics tuition for AQA, Edexcel and OCR A & B. Please share your specification and examination year so we can match lessons to your course, including any option topics.

Can we focus on one difficult topic?

Yes. An individual lesson or a four-lesson block can focus on an agreed area. We may also revisit earlier ideas if those are what make the topic difficult. The number of lessons needed depends on your starting point.

Can you help if I am falling behind—or aiming for the highest grades?

We can start by reviewing your recent work and identifying what needs attention. That may mean rebuilding foundations, linking topics or tackling more demanding problems. The focus is on the next useful step for you, rather than a fixed programme for every student.

Can you help with IB Physics?

Yes, following an initial consultation. Tell me whether you are studying SL or HL, your examination year and the areas where you need support. We will confirm the scope before booking lessons.

Understanding and exam preparation

I understand the lesson but struggle with exam questions. Can you help?

Yes. We can work on recognising the physics in an unfamiliar situation, choosing a useful diagram or equation, and explaining each step. Reviewing where an attempt breaks down helps us distinguish a gap in understanding from a difficulty applying it.

Can you help with the maths in Physics?

Yes. We can work on rearranging equations, proportional reasoning, graphs, vectors, units and uncertainty in the context of your Physics course. We will identify the particular skills causing difficulty and practise using them in questions.

Can we work on written explanations and longer answers?

Yes. We can practise building a clear chain of reasoning, using precise scientific language and answering the question actually asked. Your exam board’s questions and mark schemes help us review what makes an explanation complete.

Can online tuition help with practical questions and the practical endorsement?

We can work on experimental methods, interpreting data, graphs, uncertainty and evaluating results for written exam questions. The practical endorsement involves directly assessed practical work; online lessons do not replace that. Your school, college or practical provider must arrange the hands-on work and assessment.

Can we prepare for mocks or final exams?

Yes. Bring your exam dates, topic list and any marked papers. We can use those to prioritise gaps and plan focused practice, including timing and reviewing mistakes. The plan needs to reflect the time available; a short block cannot promise to cover an entire course.

Starting lessons

How do online lessons work, and what should I bring?

Lessons are live, one-to-one video sessions lasting 60 minutes, taught personally by Joshi. You will need a reliable internet connection, a computer or tablet, paper, a pen and your calculator. Share your exam board and any recent questions or marked work you would like to discuss. Joining instructions are provided before the lesson.

How many lessons should I book?

That depends on your goals, starting point and the time available for independent practice. You can begin with one 60-minute lesson at £90, or choose four lessons for £300 (£75 per lesson). We will discuss a suitable focus and scheduling before you commit; a four-lesson block is not a promise to finish a topic.

What happens in the free Grade Roadmap call?

It is a 30-minute video consultation to discuss your course, current challenges and goals, and decide whether tuition is a good fit. Parents are welcome to join. It is a consultation rather than a teaching lesson, and there is no obligation to book.

Do you guarantee a particular grade?

No. We agree realistic priorities and review your work as lessons progress. Outcomes depend on your starting point, the time available and the practice you do alongside tuition.

Your next step

way forward.

Tell me where you are now and what you’re working towards. We’ll discuss how tuition could help—and whether we’re the right fit.
